Another Good Day

My blood sugar chart for last three months
It shows what can be accomplished easily with proper diet and exercise. You can see what happened when I followed the standard endo formula of 45g carb per meal and three 15g carb snacks. Then on June 1 you can see what happens when the total daily carb count drops to 50g or less per day. Pretty exciting isn't it?
Went for a walk
We went to our favorite pizza restaurant tonight. I am allergic to gluten so when we ordered pizza I ordered the supreme combo. I scrape off the toppings and just eat those with the cheese and the sauce. very tasty and no real carbs to speak of. My before dinner bg was 109 and 2 hr post prandial 111. I'd say this was a great dinner for me
We just got back from our nightly walk. We walk around the neighborhood. It amounts to about a 2 mile walk. Southern California is super hot so we waited until it was dark. What a nice time we had, just the two of us. I hope you had a good day. I did.

New to blogging
Hi, I am new to blogging. I have had T2 diabetes since August 2008. I got sick in January 2010 and ended up in the hospital for 10 days. My blood pressure dropped to 50/20 and I almost died. The hospital brought in specialists from all over the region and they poked and prodded me, bled me etc to try to figure out why a young man such as myself was dying.
My endocrinologist realized I have a semi-rare disease called Addison's disease. Yes, the same one that Kennedy had. It turns out they also found that I have Celiac disease. In April 2011 I was diagnosed with T1 and went on insulin. I officially have three auto immune diseases raging in my body. With proper treatment the Addison's is under control and with proper diet my celiac is under control as well.
Controlling diabetes is like trying to herd kittens. Totally unpredictable, unruly child, does what it pleases even when I take all the right actions. Frustrating.
In June I changed my diet. A friend encouraged me to try lowering my carbohydrate intake to see if I could lower my bg's and get better control of my health. I used to eat about 150-200 carbs per day. Now I eat less than 50. I have not experienced a reduction of energy, thinking ability etc. Since then I have lost 17 pounds, gained great control over my sugar and feel much better.
This blog will pertain to my diet, my health and my struggle with diabetes, addison's disease and celiac sprue. I plan to share recipes, daily struggles, successes and failures. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy sharing it.
